Keto Sunday Supper - Seared Sashimi Tuna

H e l l o, Friends!! Over the weekend I nailed a new Restaurant Worthy Sunday Supper. The dish is out of this world delicious!! I'm so pleased with how all the components of this dish complimented one another and after sharing on my IG @ashley.yl.lifestyle I got some requests for the recipe and it got me thinking it was finally time to start the Keto Blog I have been contemplating for some time.

Without further adieu, please help me celebrate the first edition of Keto Recipes on the blog with this phenomenal, Seared Sashimi Tuna dredged in Everything but the Bagel Seasoning over Wasabi Cauliflower Mash and topped with Red Cabbage Slaw(recipe from my dear friend, Rose). It is restaurant worthy plate for both it's beauty and it's bursting flavors!! Now, you too can make this Keto Supper at home.Yum-Yum-Yum!!

Here's how you can make this Seared Sashimi Tuna, Wasabi Cauliflower Mash and Red Cabbage Slaw at home...

Ingredients

Tuna

Sashimi Grade Tuna Steak (number of servings per person)-I bought a beautiful tuna steak at Wegmans

Everything but the Bagel Seasoning-I use Trader Joe's, but you can now find this at most grocers.

1 tablespoon Coconut Oil for searing Tuna

Slaw

1/3-1/2 Red Cabbage

Salt (I use Coarse Kosher Salt for Cooking)

2-3 Green Onions

1 Bunch Cilantro

1/2 Lime

Wasabi Cauliflower Mash

1 bag Frozen Riced Cauliflower (I used garlic rice cauliflower from Aldi's Frozen section)

Wasabi Powder (I bought this at Wegman's)

Can of Coconut Milk

My best advice to make this dish restaurant worthy is to treat yourself to a really nice, fresh piece of Sashimi Grade Tuna at your favorite fish market. I usually buy my fish at Whole Foods or this Tuna Steak came from Wegman's Fish Counter and it was beautiful! Don't be shy to pick the exact piece you want, you deserve perfection!

*The tuna only takes about 3 minutes to make from start to finish, so prepare the other components of your dish first so you can put your dish together as soon as your tuna is dredged and ready.

I started by preparing the Red Cabbage Slaw first, so the flavors could marinate together as I prepped the rest of the meal. Here's step by step instructions for the Red Cabbage Slaw

  1. 1/3 to 1/2 Red Cabbage Shredded - sprinkle with the salt and massage a little bit to soften (it will still be very crunchy!)

  2. 2-3 green onions - sliced small or cut into ribbons about 1.5"-2" long.

  3. 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

  4. 1/2 a lime freshly squeezed (you could add more lime, there's 7 carbs in a whole lime.)

  5. Mix all ingredients together and toss well to combine. Let it marinate together while you make the rest of your meal.

Wasabi Cauliflower Mash

  1. Follow instructions to prepare Cauliflower Rice according to bag directions. (I used Frozen-Garlic Cauliflower Rice from Aldi and it took 5 quick minutes in the microwave)

  2. Add Cauliflower Rice to food processor

  3. Open Coconut Milk (without shaking) and scoop out fatty chunks. Add to cauliflower rice. Blend in food processor, adding more coconut milk until smooth and creamy.

  4. Add Wasabi Powder to taste and blend well. (I used about 1 tablespoon of wasabi powder per serving and it was perfect for my taste buds. Use wasabi powder cautiously and to your personal taste/spice preference.)

  5. Keep Warm while you sear your tuna.

Seared Sashimi Grade Tuna

  1. Add 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil to saute pan until hot, but not smoking. (test pan readiness with a tiny edge of tuna to see if it begins searing)

  2. With tongs sear each side of your Tuna Steak starting on edges for 30 seconds per side (less or more time according to preferred temperature)

  3. When all sides of Tuna are seared, dredge in Everything but the Bagel Seasoning (I got mine at Trader Joe's.)

  4. Let rest for 1 minute while you prepare your plates.

Prepare Your Plates

  1. Spread your warm/hot Wasabi Cauliflower Mash over plate.

  2. Place prepared Tuna Steak over Wasabi Cauliflower Mash. (You can slice Tuna with sharp knife in thin slices if you prefer or if you are using one steak for multiple servings)

  3. Top with Red Cabbage Slaw.

  4. Take a picture and tag me on your social @ashley.yl.lifestyle (I want to see your Restaurant Worthy Keto Suppers!)

  5. Enjoy!!
